The Green Party of California (GPCA) is a California political party. The party is led by a coordinating committee, and decisions are ultimately made by general assemblies. The GPCA is affiliated with the Green Party of the United States (GPUS).
As of February 10, , there are 97, people registered to vote with Green party-preference, %, the sixth-largest. As of January , there are twenty-nine California Green elected officials, including two elected-mayors and three in municipal councils.
History
[edit]On February 4, , Greens gathered at California State University, Sacramento, authored bylaws, founded the GPCA, and started a voter registration drive.[1] The GPCA adopted the leaf-G logo which cartoonist Harry Driggs designed for the Green Party of San Francisco in the s and which represents the letter G of the party name as a leaf.[a]

Unlike many other political parties, the Green Party of California does not have traditional state party co-chairs. Rather a team of officers and officials perform specific statewide roles. They include:

Laura Wells has run as a Green Party candidate for församling, District 13, in She also ran for the California Governor in and for state Controller in Wells registered with the Green Party the year it gained ballot tillgång in She was a member of the first Green Party County Council in Alameda County and in , she co-founded Green Focus, the GPCA's official newspaper. An advokat for electoral reform, Wells was part of the campaign steering committee that achieved 69% voter approval of Instant Runoff Voting (IRV) in Oakland.
Some of her other key issues include establishing publicly owned banks, taxing the rich, and reforming old Prop 13 to retain its benefits and eliminate its damaging effects on California’s schools and infrastructure.
Wells has over 20 years experience in financial systems - investments, pension medel, union dues accounting, and real estate loans. She holds a B.A. from Wayne State University (Detroit, MI, Phi Beta Kappa),
