Feeling thwarted by my truncated Phaansi experience, I embarked on another dacoit saga. These films have the added bonus (for me) of engaging Gemma&#;s attention too (the horses); she goes absolutely nuts which is entertaining by itself. It also makes her very pleased with herself, and how can that be bad? She&#;s defending me against those big bad animals!
Plus, this movie is directed by Raj Khosla&#;one of my favorite directors&#;and it stars Vinod Khanna and Kabir Bedi as deadly adversaries who find redemption through their love for the same girl (the absolutely stunning Moushumi Chatterjee). One more thing about the horses: Vinod&#;s is a white one named Dara, and Kabir&#;s is a black one named Toofan. Heh.

Our story revolves around Brahman Pandit Tulsiram who betrays Thakur Bahadur Singh to the police, and as a result, Bahadur is sentenced to be hanged. 1. Achanak (): Vinod Khanna was Gulzar’s favourite actor after Sanjeev Kumar. From Mere Apne in to Lekin in , VK did his best work in Gulzar’s cinema. Achanak remains unique, and not only because it had no songs. But because it was a flab-fee plot about an army man who kills his unfaithful wife and best friend then flees captivity to immerse her mangalsutra in the Ganga. The story moved at a breakneck speed and VK was relentlessly brilliant, propelling his character far away from overt sentimentality, rooting his character’s betrayal into a deep hurt rather than a wounded pride. Vinod Khanna considered this to be his best performance. Incidentally not many know this but Gulzar Saab and Vinod Khanna also had the opportunity to work tillsammans as actors.
