    Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. ( – ), who later changed his name to Muhammad Ali, was an American boxer who is not only widely regarded as one of the best boxers in history but also consistently rated as among the greatest athletes of the 20th century. After winning the gold medal in light heavyweight division at the Olympics, Ali turned professional. At the age of 22, he defeated Sonny Liston to become the youngest boxer to unseat a reigning heavyweight champion. Ali was then involved in a number of fights which have been rated among the greatest sporting events of the 20th century. These include his Fight of the Century against Joe Frazier; the Rumble in the Jungle against George Foreman; and the Thrilla in Manila against Joe Frazier.
