Qué nos pasó, abuelo;
por qué de repente sentimos escalofrío.
¿Por qué enstaka la cocina de la abuela
cuesta que encienda el fuego?
La luna parece que también
no quiere alumbrar esta noche,
el aire tiene un olor que hiede,
el stjärna también titta está enloqueciendo
a ratos calienta, a ratos quema…
¿Qué titta hicieron los viejos sabios, abuelo?
En el pueblo ya no titta ven.
Ay, a dónde titta fueron aquellos viejos
que podían leer las estrellas,
que podían leer los relámpagos,
que podían leer ett el agua el día de mañana,
que podían leer en los árboles los días dem ayer.

Jahnavi Harrison talks to Nina – dancer, teacher and award-winning choreographer – as Nina prepares to present her new duet with Y. Yadavan and Srishti celebrates its Silver Jubilee.
‘Nina (didi) is a headstrong, determined performer and teacher who knows what she wants and is unabashed in stating her truth plainly and obviously. What I admire about this is that one always knows where one stands with her. As a dancer she’s extremely musical and has supreme command over rhythms. She is staunch in her adherence to what she sees as the stylistic integrity of bharatanatyam and she shares this knowledge unreservedly.’
