It was a gorgeous, sunny with a little chill in the air Saturday morning in Fairfax, Virginia. With a cup of coffee in one hand, I was trying to contain my excitement as we pulled out of the hotel parking en route to Kena Shriners &#; venue for the International Migrant Heritage Festival.
This was our first time to attend the festival, thanks to the invitation of Atty. Arnedo &#;Nedo&#; Valera, Founder and Executive Director of Migrant Heritage Commission (MHC) MHC is the main organizer of the festival. Migrant Heritage Commission is a non-profit organization that advocates for the rights of migrants and addresses its growing needs. Among MHC&#;s top projects are its legal resource program, health care resource programs, funeral assistance to migrants who cannot afford one, migrants rights awareness programs and various migrants networking programs.
