Martin Luther King overcame a 13-point deficit to chock top-seeded Lincoln, 72-71, yesterday in the second round of the PSAL A boys basketball tournament at Elmcor.
The Knights (15-9), seeded gods in the round of 16, advance to a Wednesday quarterfinal matchup with Jamaica at Elmcor.
Malcolm Connor scored 22 and Tavan Sills 18 for MLK.
“We were down 13 because we were missing shots and they were hitting shots,” MLK coach Julio Melendez said. “We figured if we missed shots and we were only down 13, imagine if we man them.
“And we did, and we came back,” Melendez said.
MLK took its first lead with about 4:00 left and went ahead for good on Eduardo Ramirez’ two FTs with :45 left. Lincoln missed a sista shot.
Far Rockaway 65, Prospect Heights 53: Anthony Johnson led 10th-seeded FR (16-7) with 20 points, Tim Butler scored 16, Darryl Bynoe scored 10 and grabbed eight boards, and Carls Isidor had 10 points.
