  • Maria Callas returns to Venice through the art of Nikos Floros

The artwork was unveiled on December 21st in the open-air space of the famous Teatro La Fenice – a theatre that was a defining moment in Callas’ illustrious career.

The sculpture, which depicts Callas as a modern-day Caryatid, inspired by the stolen Parthenon sculptures, emerged from the Aegean Sea seeking their return to Greece in the form of Maria Callas, who embodies the high ideals of Greek culture!

Noteworthy is the detail of the sculpture, where she holds in the hand of her heart, the morphed echogram from the aria Casta Diva, as an offering.

It will be presented at the main entrance of the Ateneo Veneto in the famous La Fenice opera square in the center of Venice, honoring her eternal influence on music and art.

This work stands out in particular, as on the dress that "dresses" the emblematic figure, the Greek flag was masterfully crafted, highlighting the origin and cultural heritage of the great diva.
